Musically he's no lightweight either, as the abundance of inventive angles in his latest diabolical construct should convey any moment now .

Everything is in one place now. If you're experiencing readability issues or cross-browser incompatibility (it's tested in Firefox and IE), feel free to let me know. All releases can be listened to on-site through the embedded archive.org audioplayers, which in my opinion works great. 2) The newly spawned Entity Medialab is online (for some weeks now) and is accepting demo submissions. If you're working on a project that could fit with the Entity vibe, you might want to discuss it with me. It could house anything that's a " hybrid digital medium ". What I mean by that is simply a combination of digital artforms. I'm hoping for YOU to help me shape it into something interesting, but in the meanwhile I won't hold back on using it as a platform for my own mutant creations. ...which seamlessly brings us to.... 3) HYPERSPACE INVADERS ZERO is OUT NOW! Not only that, but thanks to Cas Van Nieuwenhuyse there's also a trailer .

and ofcourse you can check out the demo before you decide that I totally depend on your money to be able to crank it up another notch! (Also: first person to solve the html "error" that the Entity Netlabel site is showing in Internet Explorer gets a free copy of HI0 !)

It's on that note that we welcome Japan-based Ryukau's latest addition to the NTT catalog. Fasten your seatbelt and take the tour in his " Selected Rooms ". At your own risk. Excellent artwork by Nick Nenov.

Well ever since we began working on that, something clicked in my head. As is not unusual for me, I got obsessed with the idea of designing virtual interactive environments, allowing anyone to actively engage into a state of immersion . It just seems this state is where we want to be. The way I see it, it's a major driving force behind any form of art/entertainment. It puts us in the zone . A second videogame was bound to be created, except the problem was that it would turn out hard to find someone as dedicated as Carsten (who endured 4 years of my incessant nitpicking, congrats to him!) who would be willing to take care of the programming aspect, since I didn't think I was cut out for such a thing. Besides that, it really is a lot to ask from a person that you're not actually acquainted with. I needed to handle things differently, so halfway during Tetroid development (2006), I found myself back in college, since there was no way I'd teach myself how to develop games without giving up otherwise ( sidenote : I did gracefully flunk programming in my final year. It didn't come as a surprise. However by then I was capable enough of creating a simple game on my own.) The what now? I've never been a fan of realism in games. Sure they are immersive, though not only do they require a staggering amount of work (and staff) to create, they have in my opinion turned stale and uninspired over the years - not that I'll rule out playing the more interesting ones myself at some point. Game design has much more to offer than having a character run and shoot through a beautiful 3D environment. It always comes down to getting players into the zone. Minimal game concepts (Pacman, Tetris, Space Invaders, Pong, puzzles, ...) potentially attain this goal just as effectively without the extra requirements. Hyperspace Invaders (or HI ) originally intended to be an interactive audiovisual gaming delight. However I decided at some point that I wasn't going to try and pull something off that's still technically over my head, so it seemed more convenient to test the waters by focusing on gameplay first. Hence Hyperspace Invaders Zero ( HI0 ) - a prequel if you will. It's not a secret where I got my mustard. I still admire the elegance of the classic concepts as they came before the field got flooded. In HI0 , I explored two of those classic concepts ( Space Invaders , Paratrooper ) and tried to subtly improve on them. The 3rd (main) game takes game mechanics from an endless pile of shmups which I shook and stirred into a concentrated cocktail of sensory overloading arcade madness. My favorite. The game is nearly finished and ready to be released at IndieCity . In the meanwhile, check out the HI0 website for more details and screenshots . To be continued!

Taking matters into their own hands - something I could only encourage - Idle Sunder self-releases a new album called Absolute , which features some of their noisier, darker and (at times) more rhythmic work on the magnificent Bandcamp website. Spanning 10 tracks (67 mins in total, fully previewable), available in both high quality mp3 and uncompressed FLAC format (something some of you have been asking for), you know the 8€ price tag is perfectly reasonable. Absolute is the result of their ever-expanding approach and meticulous sounddesign, showing off the various styles they have become known for and more. Conceptually, this album works as a story, as effectively as it portrays a glimpse into their insights regarding life's deeper questions. Absolutely recommended.
